Config
User Guide — The Reference Lists Behind the Quality Module

Contents
1. Overview
Config is where you maintain the reference lists the rest of the Quality module draws on. Whenever you pick a value from a dropdown elsewhere — a rule's priority, its dimension, or the root cause and resolution of an issue — that dropdown is filled from a list you manage here.
Keeping these lists tidy and meaningful is what makes everything else read clearly: good dimension and priority names show up on the Scorecard, and good root-cause and resolution options make your issue records consistent across the team.
What you can do here
- Maintain five reference lists used across the Quality module.
- Add a new entry to any list.
- Rename or re-describe an entry.
- Remove an entry you no longer use.
WHERE TO FIND IT — Open Quality → Config. The screen's heading reads "Configuration."
2. Finding Your Way Around
Across the top of the screen are five tabs, one per list:
- Priority — how important a rule is.
- Dimension — the quality dimensions.
- Root Cause — why an issue happened.
- Resolution Type — the kind of fix for an issue.
- Resolution status — the state a resolution is in.
Select a tab to work with that list. They all behave the same way, described next.
3. Working With a List
Every tab shows its entries in a table. The layout is the same from tab to tab, but the main column is named after the list you're on — so the columns are:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Action | The first column on the left, holding the Delete button for each entry. |
| (the list's own name) | The entry itself. This column takes the name of the tab — Priority on the Priority tab, Dimension on the Dimension tab, Root Cause on the Root Cause tab, Resolution Type on the Resolution Type tab, and Resolution Status on the Resolution status tab. |
| Description | A short explanation of what the entry means. |
| Updated By / Updated Date | Who last changed the entry, and when. |
Three simple actions cover everything you'll do here:
- Add — select the floating plus (+) button in the bottom-right. A small dialog asks for the entry's name and a Description; save it and it joins the list.
- Edit — change a name or description directly in the table. Click the cell, type your change, and it saves on its own.
- Delete — use the Delete button in the Action column, then confirm.
CHANGES SHOW UP EVERYWHERE THIS LIST IS USED — These entries feed dropdowns across the Quality module. Renaming one updates it wherever it appears; before deleting one, it's worth checking it isn't still in use, so existing rules and issues keep making sense.
4. What Each List Is For
The five lists do the same job — supply clean, consistent choices — in different parts of the module.
Priority. The importance levels you can give a rule (for example high, medium, low). You choose from this list when creating or editing a rule in Manage Rule and Define Rule, and it helps you decide what to tackle first.
Dimension. The quality dimensions — Completeness, Validity, Accuracy, and so on — that every rule and check is grouped under. These are what the Scorecard and Dashboard use to break your data quality down by type.
Root Cause. The reasons an issue can occur. You pick from this list when recording why an issue happened, so causes are described the same way across every issue. See Issue.
Resolution Type. The kinds of fix that can be applied to an issue — used when recording a root cause analysis in Issue.
Resolution status. The states a resolution can be in (for example in progress or complete) — used when recording how an issue was resolved in Issue.
SET THESE UP FIRST — Because rules and issues pick their values from these lists, it helps to get the entries right early. A short, clear set of options keeps everyone choosing the same words for the same things.
