Target Data Management

User Guide — Generating and Preparing Target Data

|  Last updated: September 2026

1. Overview

Target Data Management is a two-step wizard for producing target data — first generating it from your objects, then preparing it so it's ready to be extracted. The screen guides you through the steps in order, shown as 1 Generate and then 2 Prepare.

This is separate from the Target Data validation runner (which runs and monitors validation) — see the Target Data guide for that.

WHERE TO FIND IT — Target Data Management is under Process → Config. It opens on step 1, Generate, with the second step, Prepare, alongside it.

2. Step 1 — Generate

The Generate step creates the target data from the objects you choose.

  1. Choose the Enterprise Objects you want to generate data for.
  2. Pick a Connection (where the data comes from) and a Data Server (where it's produced).
  3. Click Populate. While it works, the button shows Populating….
  4. The generated tables are listed, each with its Table Name and Type.

You can't populate until an object, a connection, and a data server are all chosen — the Populate button stays disabled until then.

PICK OBJECTS, CONNECTION, AND DATA SERVER FIRST — All three are needed before Populate will run. If the button is greyed out, check you've chosen at least one Enterprise Object plus a Connection and a Data Server.

3. Step 2 — Prepare

Once data is generated, move to the Prepare step to ready it for extraction. The tab lists what's been generated:

ColumnWhat it shows
Object Name / Table NameThe object and the table.
GroupThe group the table belongs to.
Job NameThe job that will handle it.
ConnectionWhere the data comes from.
Data ServerWhere it runs.
StatusWhere it's up to.

Click Prepare for Data Extraction to complete the step. Use Previous to step back to Generate if you need to change what was generated.
